Obituary

Isabella Burmeister passed away peacefully at the age of 93 in Naples, Florida on the eve of April 18, 2026. “Isie” was born in Edinburgh, Scotland on May 17, 1932. She was the daughter of Catherine and John Bennett and the last surviving child of twelve. In 1952 she met the love of her life, a very handsome soldier of the United States Army, Roy Carl Burmeister from Saline, Michigan. They met at a dance hall in Scotland, fell in love at first sight, and were married in Edinburgh, Scotland on April 19th, 1952. After a brief time in Germany, where Roy was stationed during the Korean War, they sailed across the Atlantic to the United States and made Michigan their permanent home together.

Isie was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and friend who always gave her time and love unconditionally. She was first and foremost an accomplished homemaker, but she also had a career as an assistant sales representative for Mirro Aluminum Company who supplied the J. L. Hudson stores.

When Isie was not taking care of someone, she loved to play Scrabble (nearly invincible), golf, bowl, fish, camp, cook, and play any card game worth a bet. But her absolute passion was children. Her face would light up when a child entered the room, and children would naturally be drawn to her. Perhaps it was that Scottish accent that she never lost.

Isie is survived by her children, Guy Burmeister (Melody), Gwen LeVeque (Rene Mulder), Roy Burmeister Jr. (Karen), Jane Burmeister (Frank Mulder), and Eric Burmeister (Kerri), grandchildren, Renee Cary (Daniel) , Alexander LeVeque (Andrea), Ryann Kerekes (John), Sarah LeVeque, and Kelly Burmeister Long (Jay Long), eleven great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Isie’s entire family is the benefactor of her love, devotion, and generosity. Her strong faith in God gave her peace and comfort in her final days.
