Mary Demergian Coffey passed away on Sunday, September 22, 2024.

Mary was born in Beirut, Lebanon along with two brothers and one sister. She stated her birth year as either 1929 or 1935 depending on her audience but when asked her age, she put you on the spot by asking "how old do you think I am?'. Needless to say, the question was never asked twice by the same person.

She met her husband Gerald Coffey when he was station in Beirut as a United States Army Officer. They married in Germany and settled in the U.S. They lived and raised five children in seven different states. She was known as Nana to six grandchildren and Grandma Nana to two great granddaughters.

Mary had many interests, teaching herself to sew (all we needed to do was show her a dress or outfit we liked and she'd make her own pattern and sew the item for us), knit, macrame, ceramics, tennis and to play pool---those of you gents who fell prey to her pool skills know who you are.

Her number one love was her children: Peggy, Patty, Penny, Pamela and especially her son Gerald as well as grands Pamela, Garrett, Clifford, Colin, Kaela, and Emma and great grands Quinn, and Kyleigh. The once overarching memory we have is that we could always count on her to have our backs. If you messed with one of her children, she went full 'mama bear'. She was preceded in death by her husband Gerald and youngest daughter Pamela.

She loved being a part of the Riviera Golf Estates community and we thank you for welcoming her into your lives and making her so happy.

She was treated with great kindness and compassion at AVOW Hospice and donation can be made to them in her honor if you so wish.
